Spina Bifida of WNY, Inc. assists its members with extraordinary expenses related to spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus. The following funds are available to current dues paying members of SBWNY:
Brace & Equipment Fund – Reimburses members with spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus
up to a yearly maximum of $400 for medical, adapted sports equipment and assistive technology. Click here for application.
Barbara Benz Memorial Educational Scholarship Fund – Assists members with spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus with post high school educational costs (includes vocational training) up to a maximum of $500 yearly. Full and part time students are encouraged to apply. Click here for application.
Enrichment Activities – A yearly maximum of $200 is available to individuals with spina
bifida and/or hydrocephalus to help defer costs related to enrichment activities.

Hospitality Fund – Reimburses members up to $100 annually for expenses related to
hospital admission such as parking, television, telephone and meals for immediate family members. Click here for application.
WNY Mopars Adapted Bicycle Fund – Provides adapted bicycles for members with spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus as determined through guidelines established by the WNY Mopars
Car Club. Click here for application.
Physical Fitness Fund - Assists individuals with spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus with costs related to physical fitness activities such as: gym membership fees, exercise/fitness classes, adapted sports programs, and various weight loss programs. Click here for application.
Respite Fund - Provides assistance with dependent care cost for person with spina bifida and/or hydrochephalus over 13 years of age. Click here for application.
*Fund recipients must reside in SBWNY’s service area which is: Erie, Niagara, Allegany, Orleans, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Wyoming or Genesee counties. All recipients are encouraged to join a committee or assist with a SBWNY function or fundraiser. All awards are given on a first come first served basis and upon availability of funds.
